'RED'
(Del Rey N Janterra No Lime Needed x CH Janterra's Pretty Reckless) DOB: Nov 10, 2020 vWD: Clear Red is courageous, independent, and free-spirited, and she loves nothing more than life itself. Red radiates pure joy in every moment, and she is happy just to be. She is a spitfire and shares her sass on a regular basis with people and dogs alike. Red also loves her downtime, she loves to cuddle, to be held and loved. Red was in a serious head-on collision in British Columbia at the age of 8.5 weeks. She sustained soft tissue injuries, and a serious non-surgical spinal compression from T1 to T3. For two weeks after the accident, Red received pain medication and anti-inflammatories for her injuries. She is now medication-free. Red has been receiving veterinary care, osteopathy, acupuncture, and physiotherapy since the accident. Red was initially paralyzed after the accident, and her road to recovery has included learning how to stand and walk again, with a focus on regaining her balance and her motor skills. Red has some ataxia in both of her rear legs, and at this point, it is unclear how much of the ataxia will resolve. Red needs a home that is willing to let Red set the pace during joint activities, and when learning new skills. It's important to do things at Red’s speed. Ideally, Red’s new home will not include (many) stairs, nor slippery surfaces like hardwood or linoleum. She will need to be an only dog, or to have an older very calm canine companion. Red’s veterinarian expects her to have excellent quality of life, at a modified activity level. Given the severity of her spinal injury, we cannot guarantee that she will not have issues later in life due to the accident. We can guarantee that you will learn to appreciate every moment of every day because of Red. We are seeking an Alberta-based home for Red and will be very carefully screening interested families. We are looking for an incredibly special family who are willing to adjust their lives to accommodate our beautiful little girl who will undoubtedly become the love of their life. |
